Hope is the thing with feathers

I'm sure this election is full of a lot of very specific memories for everyone. These are mine:

Lucy: "John McBush isn't a good President. Barack Obama is better. John McCain is nice." This morning she asked if she could have a sleepover with Barack Obama. I thought, "my god, Lucy wants to spend the night in the Lincoln Bedroom!"

Henry: He sat this morning glued to CNN. Then he put his hands in the air and said, "The Democrats did it! It's their turn. Until now every president has been white. Now an African-American gets a turn. "

My brother: He and I exchanged exclamatory text messages. He said he could hear people cheering in the streets outside his Manhattan apartment.

Cary: He held onto my hand for dear life through Obama's entire speech. He also kept commenting on how great the picture was on our new TV.

Here are my hopes:

1. I hope my mom gets some more sleep now that Sarah Palin can't do any real harm until 2012, and maybe never.

2. I hope the Republicans actually work with Obama and we see more of the John McCain of last night's concession and not the McCain that campaigned.

3. I hope the rest of the world hates us a little bit less.

4. I hope Lucy doesn't find out that Sasha and Malia are getting a puppy.

The puppy comment was the only thing I had any issue with 'cause I would have preferred he said they were adopting a dog from the shelter. ;-)

I think my mom has the same feeling about me hearing about the puppy....and I am 21. Those lucky girls.

I love your families' perspective on life ;-)

Maybe Lucy can go visit the Obama puppy at the white house. And, you have the best excuse ever not to get her one: she didn't get you elected president....

(and, Krista, send our Pres. elect an email. He didn't say where he was going to get the puppy. He may be open to suggestions)

Great idea, Auntly H - I've received enough emails from Obama, I should have an address for him. ;-) I'll send a pic of our two shelter "puppies" (80- and 90-pounds each now, lol) and maybe he'll come back to Park City to pick one out from our local Friends of the Animals! What a great project for that organization - I'm sending them a note right now.

The republican'ts have to work with Obama. With all the congressional seats they lost (and continue to lose) and the specific loss of Dole & Sunnunu --they have no choice.

Unfortunately, if Ted Stevens is expelled, Sarah Palin has the complete right and power, as Gov, to appoint herself senator. And she will, because the DC department stores are much better stocked.

I'm so with you on No. 3 - so far, so good. I'm originally from Germany, and everybody there is very optimistic about Obama being the president elect (everybody from ordinary citizens up to the chancellor, Angela Merkel).

Actually had 3 kids at the babysitting place the other day discussing the election - pissed off that Obama won and that their dad voted for McCain. Oh, and they were 4.
